Super Scale

I love this scale. It provides very accurate and detailed data on weight BMI, and other things. It then transfers all components to my Garmin Connect App. The text is large, brightly lit, and very clear.

Beautiful and functional scale

Best feature by far is the WiFi syncing to the app. I have used Bluetooth scales before but they were annoying as you’d have to open the app on your phone and connect to sync the data. Garmin has a great solution to upload your data to the cloud to see in all devices in the Connect app. The design and aesthetics of the scale are also top notch. The screen is really nice, but would have been a nicer if it was slightly bigger. Some data screens such as trends are a bit hard to see so you have to bend down to really understand them. But otherwise when it displays your weight and other stats the screen is perfect. Much better than the old style screens that look like digital clocks. My one con with the scale is the “tap to wake” feature. The tapping doesn’t always work and there is a slight lag to when the screen turns on. Sometimes I’ll have to tap it multiple times with increasing pressure. It would be great if you could just step on and it woke up and started taking your measurements instead of tapping.

Love the Integration

We have been longtime Garmin users including bike computers, inReach, watches, etc., but had a scale that gave similar measurements as the S2 so didn't see the need. Received the Garmin Smart Scale as a gift and it's so much better than what we had. The best feature is the integration with Connect and the relative seamless transfer of data. In addition, the scale looks great, is easy to use, and appears accurate.

This needs A LOT of improvement(s)

I really love everything Garmin and was quite excited to get my hands on this smart scale. I cringed the second I saw BMI pop up. That is such an antiquated/outdated measurement, I'm shocked Garmin put that on there. Guessing whoever thought that was a good idea still has an AOL email account. The display is kinda junky too. For a smart scale at this price point, one would think they could integrate a higher-resolution display. Also, the body fat percentage is WAY off. I walk around at about 10-12% and have for quite some time (having it measured professionally periodically) and the second I got this scale to work (more on that later), it showed I had 28% body fat. That was yet another red flag. I did, however, test my weight against another digital scale and they were both exact. So at least there's that! Now for the crazy frustrating part. The instructions say to tap the scale with a toe to have turn on. Mine doesn't do that. A tap, a second tap, a light step with one foot, nothing turns it on (maybe I'm boring?). I'll then step on with both feet, nothing. The second I step off, it turns on. I quickly move back on, it turns off. I seriously thought I was being punked. The ONLY way I've found I can consistently get it to turn on would be to pick it up and gently set it down. Viola! It turns on. I'm not sure I want a scale that I can't wake up unless I pick it up and move it. And yes, it's sitting on a hard tile surface. So basically, I have a VERY expensive scale that shows outdated and inaccurate data, that I have to pick up and move slightly, to get things to work. I'm sending this one back.

Inaccurate and difficult for more than 1 user

This scale weighs me about 6 lbs less than the scale at the Dr.'s office or the gym. A few weeks ago I added a 2nd user to the scale and we have some difficulty toggling to the correct user after the weight/ stats are measured, it the wrong user gets locked in without a way of backing out without re-weighing. I am thinking about returning it. This would be a great feature if I could get the correct weight associated to the correct person. The 2nd user is about 3 lbs less than I am so possibly this similarity in weight is difficult for the scale to pick up.

Fat percentage.

I bought the scale to interface automatically with my Garmin control. However, the fat percentage was way off, I’m 5 foot nine and weigh 132 pounds, and my fat percentage came out close to 25%. About eight percentage points higher than other methods. Maybe it just doesn’t work for my body habitus. Who knows.

Works great with Connect

I bought the scale because it works with Connect. The only problem is that I have to step on the scale and then step back off tap it with one foot to turn it on. It would be much better if all I had to do is step on it.
